Press & Embargo Policies
Version 1.0 · Effective from 14 August 2026
JQBio and the Publisher do not discourage the dissemination of work across scientific communities, peers, the media, or other communiation outlets. We encourage it, and consider such communication best practice once a work is published, provided any sharing of the published work is carried out in accordance with the Open Access Licencing Policy provided with the article. This policy exists so that editorial decisions and reviewer recommendations are reached with fairness, and without pressure that media reaction to a manuscript still under consideration can place on the Journal, its Authors, Editors and Reviewers.
1. Embargo while a manuscript is under consideration
While a manuscript is being processed, the Journal discourages any broadcasting of it through personal or commercial media channels, consistent with the Confidentiality policy. This embargo runs until the version of record is finalised and published, made accessible and referenceable through JQBio and the Publisher.
2. Journal-led dissemination
The Journal produces its own editorial press releases, Research Highlights and Research Briefings, under a strict scope that enables dissemination of a work consistently with this policy and with the Confidentiality policy.
3. Preprints
Individuals, research communities, scholarly peers, and members of the media are asked to attribute a paper classed as a preprint appropriately as such, noting that it has not undergone peer review. Whether a work is made available as a pre-print is at the discretion of the submitting Authors; it is not an editorial decision.
